Stage Description
Short stage of the Camino de la Lana through the Serranía Baja in Cuenca. The 12 km run through a wooded landscape with pine forests, oak groves and grazing areas. Fuentes is a small town in the province of Cuenca with a typically mountainous rural area, close to the capital of Cuenca.
This stage continues through the interior of Biscay, on a medium mountain terrain. The profile is a continuous "rocky slope", with several ascents and descents. The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with forests and farmhouses. The most important milestone is passing by the Monastery of Zenarruza, a cenobium of great historical and spiritual importance. Arrival in Gernika-Lumo, the symbol of Basque peace and freedoms, with its Assembly House and Tree, is a stage end loaded with emotion and historical significance.
