Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage enters the Mena Valley in Burgos province. The profile is of medium mountain, with a continuous rise and fall through a landscape of green meadows, forests, and small traditional villages. It's a day of great beauty and solitude, allowing for pure nature to be enjoyed. The route passes by Villasana de Mena, the capital of the valley. The destination is the small village of Bercedo, a haven of peace in the heart of this Burgalian valley.
The stage that unites the Ordunte Navas with Bercedo is an immersion in the Mena Valley, a Burgalese comarca of exceptional beauty. The profile is demanding, a continuous "thorn bush" that crosses a landscape of dense green grasslands, dotted with oak and beech forests. The path passes through Villasana de Mena, the capital of the valley, a village with an interesting heritage, such as the church of Our Lady of the Remedies and the Velasco Tower. It's a good place for a long stop. After Villasana, the route continues through this idyllic landscape, passing by small stone villages that seem frozen in time. The arrival at Bercedo, a small village in a rural setting, is the end of the stage. Its tranquil atmosphere is perfect for rest and contemplation.
