Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Last stage of the Baztanes Way, the Navarre branch coming from Bayonne through the Baztan valley and joining the French Way in Pamplona. The 22 km descend from the valley of Anué to the capital of Navarre through beech and oak forests, with the Aralar mountain range to the west. The entrance to Pamplona is through the Alto del Perdón (panoramic view of the basin) or through Berrioplano, arriving at the cathedral of Santa María la Real and the old town of Iruñea.
This stage enters the Beauce plain, "France's granary", a flat and monotonous route at times, a landscape of fields and endless horizons. A day that tests the pilgrim's endurance. The arrival in Chartres, with its Gothic cathedral, World Heritage Site, is an unbeatable reward. It's a stage of overcoming, which strengthens both body and spirit.
