Stage Description

For the cyclist seeking the mystical essence of Costa da Morte, this stage is a direct journey to the heart of legends. From the recovered village of Olveiroa, the road splits northwards, on a solitary ride through interior Galicia. Rural landscapes of great authenticity are traversed, with small villages and dense forests, before the horizon opens up to reveal the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. The arrival at the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca in Muxía is a moment of deep connection with nature and spirituality, an unforgettable final stage.
The cycling stage from Olveiroa to Muxía is an immersion of 32.1 kilometers in the most authentic and legendary Galicia. Starting from the stone village of Olveiroa (300m), the cyclist takes the signposted turn north, leaving the Fisterra route behind to seek a more intimate and spiritual end. The ride is a constant up-and-down through a broken terrain, although with a general descending profile towards the coast. The route passes through a beautiful landscape, passing by Castrelo dam and small villages like Dumbría. As progress is made, the air fills with the sea's humidity and the landscape opens up, offering the first and exciting views of the ocean. The final descent to Muxía (10m) is quick and rewarding. The village welcomes the pilgrim with its maritime charm, but the true goal is the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Boat. Arriving by bike at this enclave, surrounded by the famous "sacred stones" (Pedra de Abalar, Pedra dos Cadrís), and feeling the force of the Atlantic, is a unique experience that connects with the deepest roots of Jacobean tradition and Galician legends.
