Stage Description
This stage joins the Primitivo Way with the French Way. The route is a continuous up and down through rural Galicia. Arrival in Melide, land of the octopus, is a moment of great emotion, as here pilgrims from both routes meet. It's a day to enjoy the company of other pilgrims and look forward to arriving at Santiago. It's an intermediate stage that marks the beginning of the final stages of the journey.
The stage from San Romao da Retorta to Melide is a 28km journey that connects the Primitive Way with the French Way. The path starts at San Romao da Retorta (500m) and follows an undulating profile, with a gentle descent generally towards Melide (450m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with forests and meadows.
