Stage Pamplona to Logroño (By bike)

The stage links Pamplona with Logroño in a single cycling day of close to 92 kilometres, gathering together several walking stages across Navarre and into La Rioja. It is one of the longest days on the Camino Francés by bike and combines a demanding mountain start with a long run through vineyards and grain fields.

From the historic centre of Pamplona, the route leaves the city via Cizur Menor and begins the sustained ascent to the Alto del Perdón, at around 770 metres, where the monument of wind-battered pilgrim silhouettes has become one of the iconic images of the Camino. The descent that follows is stony and demands caution until reaching Puente la Reina, where the celebrated Romanesque bridge over the river Arga marks the meeting point of the Navarrese and Aragonese routes.

The central section runs through Cirauqui, Lorca and Villatuerta to Estella, a monumental town that preserves a remarkable Romanesque heritage. Beyond the town, beside the monastery of Irache, the famous wine fountain awaits, before tackling rolling vineyard terrain towards Los Arcos and Torres del Río, with its singular octagonal church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The final part crosses Viana, the last town in Navarre, and drops down to the Ebro to enter Logroño. The Rioja capital welcomes the cyclist with the stone bridge over the river, the church of Santiago el Real and the festive atmosphere of Calle Laurel, renowned for its pinchos and its wine. After a long day with a steep initial climb, Logroño offers the ideal rest in the heart of La Rioja.
