Stage Description

Final cyclotourist stage to the Jacobean goal. From Pontevedra we follow the route of the Central Portuguese Way through Barro and Tibo, with moderate climbs through eucalyptus and oak forests. The route crosses Caldas de Reis, a thermal village in the middle of the estuary, and continues through Valga, Pontecesures and Padrón, a town linked to the Jacobean tradition by the landing of the body of the apostle. After Padrón, the last 25 km undulate through rural villages until entering Santiago de Compostela through O Milladoiro and Porta de Mazarelos. About 65 km of long but rewarding journey, culminating in front of the Obradoiro facade of the cathedral.
This cycling stage is a challenge that ventures into the most solitary Galicia. The profile is a continuous up and down, a break in the legs that demands good physical condition. The beauty of the landscape, with its forests and hills, compensates for the effort. The arrival at Olveiroa, a stone village recovered, is a haven of peace and an authentic final stage for the cycling pilgrim.
