Stage Description

Leaving behind the monumental Coimbra, this long stage enters the Bairrada region. The route is a continuous up and down through a landscape of forests and vineyards. It's a day of great beauty and physical demand. Arrival in Mealhada, famous for its roasted pork, is a gastronomic final stage. This stage puts the pilgrim to the test, but rewards with the beauty of the landscape and Portuguese flavors.
The Coimbra to Mealhada stage is a 31km long journey that ventures into the Bairrada region. The trail starts in Coimbra (20m) and follows an undulating profile with a gentle ascent towards Mealhada (50m). The route traverses a beautiful landscape, with forests and vineyards. It's a demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings. The arrival in Mealhada, famous for its roasted piglet, is a gastronomic endpoint. This stage combines gentle exercise with a rich gastronomic experience, a perfect balance on the Portuguese Way.
