Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Transition stage from Castilla y León to Galicia, crossing the Sierra Segundera and the natural border between Sanabria and Ourense. The 25 km cyclotourists climb up to the pass of A Canda (1,262 m), a historic pass between the two communities, and descend to A Gudiña, the first Galician village on this branch. High mountain scenery with oak forests, broom groves and spectacular views of the Cernadilla reservoir. A demanding stage due to the accumulated difference in altitude.
This stage continues across the Extremaduran plain, on a route that combines sections of the ancient Roman road with paths between vineyards and olive groves. It is a day of great beauty and solitude. The arrival at Zafra, "Little Seville", with its impressive castle and old town, is a monumental final stage. This stage requires good physical effort but rewards with unforgettable landscapes.
