Puebla de Sanabria, declared one of Spain's most Beautiful Towns, is one of the most spectacular and awaited stops on the Camino Sanabrés. This medieval village, perfectly preserved, rises above a rocky promontory, dominating the valley of the River Tera. Its imposing Castle of the Counts of Benavente, from the 15th century, and its wall offer unforgettable panoramic views. For the pilgrim who follows the Via de la Plata, arriving in Puebla de Sanabria is a visual reward and a deep rest. The historic center is a maze of cobblestone streets, blazoned houses, and stone and wood buildings, with the Romanesque church of Santa María del Azogue as its central hub. The proximity to the Natural Park of Lake Sanabria, the largest glacier-origin lake in the Peninsula, adds an unique natural attraction.
