Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage enters the Toroz Mountains, an area of highlands and hills that breaks up the monotony of the plain. The profile becomes more demanding, with a continuous rise and fall. The landscape is austere in beauty, with wide horizons and a great sense of solitude. Arrival at Mota del Marqués, a small town dominated by the ruins of its castle, offers a peaceful end to the stage and spectacular panoramic views from the top of the mota.
The stage between Tordesillas and Mota del Marqués is a section that leaves the Duero valley to ascend into the Montes Torozos. The profile is demanding, with continuous climbing to reach the highlands. Once above, the terrain becomes smoother, but the landscape is austere and exposed to the wind. The path traverses an environment of great solitude and beauty. Arrival in Mota del Marqués marks the end of the stage. This small town is situated at the foot of a hill (mota) topped by the ruins of an imposing castle. It is highly recommended to climb the mota to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Campos de Teruel region. The town has a beautiful church and a very tranquil atmosphere, ideal for the pilgrim's rest.
