Stage Description
First stage of the Camino de Sagunto, Jacobean Levantine route that leaves the port of Sagunto (Valencia) towards Zaragoza. The 22 km leave behind the Mediterranean coast and go through the region of Camp de Morvedre towards the interior. The route leaves the coastal orange groves and climbs gently through the Sierra Calderona. Torres Torres is a small Valencian town with traditional houses and rural heritage.
This stage is a journey to the heart of Don Quixote's La Mancha. The route is flat and monotonous at times, a landscape of fields of grain and vineyards. Arrival in Argamasilla de Alba, a village with a rich heritage and great Jacobean tradition, is an end-of-stage stop with charm. It is a day to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside and universal literature.
