Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This is one of the most scenic stages of the route. The journey follows the shores of Lake Turano, a beautiful reservoir with turquoise waters surrounded by mountains. It's a moderate distance and undulating profile journey that offers stunning views and the opportunity to enjoy nature. Arrival at the picturesque town of Castel di Tora, which seems to float over the lake, is a stage end of great beauty. It's a day to enjoy the landscape, the tranquility of the water and the magic of the lakeside towns.
The stage from Rocca Sinibalda to Castel di Tora is one of the most beautiful and panoramic sections of the Way of St. Benedict. With a distance of 13.7 kilometers, the journey is dominated by the presence of Lake Turano, a large reservoir with intense colored waters. The path starts at Rocca Sinibalda (530 m) and, after an initial uphill section of hills, descends to the lake's shore. The route follows the reservoir, offering spectacular views of the water and surrounding mountains. The profile is undulating, with continuous ascents and descents following the lake's shoreline. It is a beautiful walk that allows you to enjoy nature and the tranquility of the surroundings. Arrival at Castel di Tora (620 m), a picturesque medieval town that peeks out onto the lake from a rocky promontory, is a postal stage endpoint. Its narrow streets, stone houses, and views from its lookout point make it one of the most enchanting towns on the route. Despite its broken profile, the stage proves very rewarding due to the beauty of its landscape.
