Stage Description
This stage descends again towards the Rhone Valley. The route is short and mostly downhill, allowing for comfortable walking. Arrival in Chavanay, a famous village known for its white wines from the Condrieu appellation, marks the end of the stage with flavor. This stage also marks the entry into the Pilat Natural Park, a mountain environment that will dominate the following days. It is a transition day that combines wine culture with the promise of the mountains.
The stage from Saint-Romain-de-Surieu to Chavanay is a 17.9 km journey that descends again into the Rhone valley. The route starts at Saint-Romain-de-Surieu (350 m) and follows a mostly descending profile until the town of Chavanay (150 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape with vineyards and views of the Rhone. It is a peaceful and easy walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and arrive in time to explore the destination town. Chavanay, famous for its white wines from the Condrieu appellation, is one of the most interesting stops on the Via Gebennensis. Its heritage, with its church and natural surroundings, makes it a very pleasant stop.
