Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

First stage of the Camino de Santa Cruz (also known as Camino de Caravaca or Camino Levantino) in its Cuenca section. The 15 km route runs through the region of La Mancha Conquense along dirt paths between cereal fields, vineyards and olive groves, with a practically flat profile. La Alberca de Záncara is a small town in Cuenca with an agricultural and winemaking tradition, located in the D.O. La Mancha. A comfortable stage ideal to start the day.
The stage between A Fonsagrada and O Padrón is a half-mountain day that traverses a beautiful landscape. The profile is a continuous rise and fall, without great passes but with considerable accumulated slope. The road runs on dirt tracks and the typical "corredoiras" Galician, paths sunk in the ground flanked by stone walls. The landscape is a mosaic of green meadows, oak and beech forests, and small villages scattered. It's an stage to enjoy solitude and rural tranquility. Arrival at the small village of O Padrón, with its church and hostel, is the end of the stage. It's a place of absolute peace, perfect for a restorative break and to enjoy the hospitality of its people.
