Stage Description
This stage of the Via Kunig links San Martín del Camino with Benavides de Órbigo through the Páramo Leonés region. The 16 km are flat, ideal for a relaxed walk among cereal fields. The route passes near the historic Hospital de Órbigo, known for the Paso Honroso de don Suero de Quiñones (1434), a medieval tournament held on its bridge over the river. Benavides is a small village with a historic old town and livestock tradition.
The first stage of the English Way is a 15 km journey that skirts Ferrol Bay. The route starts in Ferrol (10m) and follows a mostly flat profile with a gentle ascent towards Neda (10m). The route passes by the Military Arsenal and the Magdalena neighbourhood. It's an enjoyable walk, allowing you to appreciate the scenery and the peaceful surroundings. Arrival in Neda, a town with a rich heritage and a great baking tradition, is a charming final stage. This stage combines gentle exercise with rich historical and scenic experience, the perfect balance of the English Way.
