Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

First cycling stage of the epilogue to Fisterra/Muxía, historical route to the 'End of the World' that medieval pilgrims completed after reaching Santiago. The 55 km link Compostela with Olveiroa crossing the rural Galicia of the region of Santiago and Soneira: villages, eucalyptus and oak forests, and the first Atlantic valleys. Olveiroa is a small village recovered with a pilgrims' hostel in a traditional rural house.
The first stage of the epilogue to cycling at Fisterra is a 89km long journey that moves away from the monumental Santiago. The road starts in Santiago de Compostela (260m) and follows a mostly descending profile, with some undulations, until the local town of Fisterra (10m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape with forests and meadows. It is an demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings. Arrival at Fisterra, "the end of the world", is a final stage with charm.
