Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Stage of the Ebro Road between Navarra and La Rioja. The 24 km link Tudela (capital of the Navarrese Ribera, with its Gothic cathedral and Jewish quarter) with Alfaro, famous for hosting the largest colony of urban storks in the world, nesting on the roofs of the collegiate church of San Miguel. The landscape is of orchards and fertile plains of the Ebro, rich in intensive agriculture.
This long and demanding stage departs from Terra Chá to venture into a more mountainous terrain. The profile is a continuous rise and fall through a landscape of great beauty and solitude. It's a journey for prepared walkers. The big prize is the arrival at the impressive Monastery of Santa María de Sobrado dos Monxes, one of the most important Cistercian monasteries in Galicia. Its baroque church, cloisters, and peaceful atmosphere make it an unforgettable final stage.
