Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

This is a short and beautiful stage that takes the pilgrim out of the big city to bring him to a more tranquil environment. The route is a continuous up and down, with spectacular views of Vigo Bay. The path follows an old waterway, the Senda da Auga, an enjoyable trail that allows for a pleasant journey through nature. The arrival in Redondela, famous for its viaducts, marks the joining of the Central Portuguese Way, creating a lively pilgrim atmosphere.
The stage connecting Vigo with Redondela is a short but beautiful journey. The exit from the large city is demanding, with a strong uphill climb that offers as a reward some of the last and spectacular views of the bay. The main attraction of the stage is the section that runs along "Senda da Auga". It's a service road for an irrigation canal that has become a very popular hiking route. It's a flat, half-slope path that offers constant panoramic views of Vigo Bay, Rande Bridge and San Simón Harbour. It's a trail to walk without haste and enjoy the scenery. The final descent leads the pilgrim to Redondela. This marina town is an essential meeting point as it is where pilgrims from the Coastal Variant meet those coming from the Central Route.
