Stage Description
This stage crosses the border between the provinces of Cuenca and Guadalajara through the Alcarria region, immortalized by Camilo José Cela in his 'Viaje a la Alcarria'. The 25 km run through a characteristic landscape of moors, savin groves and valleys laced with Alcarria honey (P.D.O.). Salmerón is a small town in Alcarria with a preserved rural center.
This is a short and beautiful stage that brings the pilgrim back to the coast. The route is an enjoyable stroll that borders the mouth of the Nervión River. The route passes through the seaside town of Santurtzi, famous for its sardines. The most spectacular section is the "Paseo de Itsaslur", a greenway that runs along the cliffs, offering impressive views of the sea. The arrival in the small village of Pobeña, with its beach, is a peaceful final stage in full nature.
