Blaye is a French city that impresses with its majestic Citadel, a masterpiece of military architecture designed by Vauban, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. For the pilgrim of the Tour de France route, it's a monumental stopover. Walking along its walls, with views of the vast Gironde estuary, is an unforgettable experience. Inside the city, the citadel houses a village, ruins and workshops for artisans. Blaye is also the entrance to the prestigious wine region of Côtes de Blaye. It's a perfect place for a break that combines history, engineering and wine culture, before continuing on to Bordeaux.
