Calamocha is the capital of the Jiloca comarca and an important service centre in Teruel province. For pilgrims on the Levante Way, it is a functional stop well-equipped for their needs. The town is crossed by the Jiloca River and preserves a Roman bridge as evidence of its history. Its heritage includes the archpriestal church of Santa María la Mayor.
