Calamocha is the capital of the Jiloca comarca and an important service centre in Teruel province. For pilgrims on the Levante Way, it is a functional stop well-equipped for their needs. The town is crossed by the Jiloca River and preserves a Roman bridge as evidence of its history. Its heritage includes the archpriestal church of Santa María la Mayor. Calamocha is especially famous for the quality of its ham and holds an annual fair dedicated to this product.
