Discover Norcia

Norcia, nestled in a high plateau surrounded by majestic mountains of the Sibillini National Park, is a city of immense spiritual importance and the starting point of the Cammino di San Benedetto. It is worldwide known as the birthplace, in 480, of Saint Benedict, father of Western monasticism and patron of Europe, and his twin sister, Saint Scholastica. For pilgrims, starting the journey here is to connect with the deepest roots of monastic life that have shaped European culture. The city, of Roman origin and surrounded by a well-preserved wall, has been a symbol of resilience after earthquakes that affected it. Although its Basilica of Saint Benedict was severely damaged, the spirituality of the place remains intact. Norcia is also famous for its cuisine, especially for "norcineria" (meat products such as ham and salami) and black truffles. It's an initiation to pilgrimage that combines the beauty of a high mountain landscape with a deep historical and spiritual charge.
