Discover Pontedeume

Pontedeume, an enchanting coastal village bathed in the Ares estuary, is one of the most picturesque and significant stops on the Camino Inglés from Ferrol. Its own name, "Puente del Eume", reveals its main distinguishing feature: a long stone bridge, originally Gothic, that saves the estuary of the River Eume and has been a compulsory passage for pilgrims for centuries. The village, founded by Alfonso X the Wise, possesses an historic quarter inviting visitors to get lost in its narrow and steep streets. Dominating the ensemble is the imposing Torreón de los Andrade, the last remnant of this powerful Galician feudal family, which today houses a centre of interpretation. For pilgrims, Pontedeume offers a well-deserved rest with all necessary services, cozy hostels, and excellent cuisine based on the estuary's products. The stage that arrives here is of great beauty, bordering the coast and offering stunning views. It is a place where medieval history and marine charm merge, creating an unique atmosphere in the pilgrimage to Santiago.
