Ruesta
Abandoned and recovered village on the Aragonese Way. Ruesa, with its castle and hostel, is a symbol of resilience and spirit of the Way of St James.
Discover Ruesta
Ruesta is one of the most singular and emotionally charged places on the Aragonese Way. This village, expropriated in the 1960s for the construction of the Yesa dam, was left abandoned and in ruins. However, thanks to the work of unions and volunteers, it has risen again as a welcoming center for pilgrims. Its hostel, set up in rehabilitated buildings, offers rest in an environment of silence and nostalgia. Dominated by the ruins of its castle, Ruesta invites reflection on memory and time passing. For the walker, sleeping here is a unique experience, an act of support for the recovery of a village that lives for and with the Way.
