Stage Description
This stage marks the arrival at the largest city in Galicia. The profile is an "off-piste" demanding route with continuous ups and downs through the hills surrounding Vigo Bay. In return, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the bay, Rande Bridge, and Cíes Islands. The path alternates between mountain sections with increasingly urbanized zones. Entering Vigo takes a long time and runs along the city's outskirts, an effort that is rewarded by arriving at the vibrant city center.
The journey between A Ramallosa and Vigo is a "breakneck" profile challenge that rewards the pilgrim with some of the most spectacular views in all of the Rías Baixas. The route leaves the coast to ascend into the hills bordering the Vigo estuary. The stage is a continuous up-and-down ride on forest trails and rural roads. The ascents are demanding, but from the summits one gets unforgettable views of the bay, with the imposing Puente de Rande and the Cíes Islands as a backdrop. Small rural nuclei and dense forests are crossed. The second half of the stage is characterized by an approach to the large city of Vigo. The surroundings become increasingly urban and the route runs through residential zones and parks. The entry into the city is long, but the effort has its reward. Vigo, the most populous city in Galicia, is a vibrant industrial and cultural center. The pilgrim can enjoy the lively Old Town, stroll along the port, or savor the famous oysters at the Rúa da Pescadería. The city offers an enormous variety of services and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
