Stage Description
This stage runs along the valley of the River Orbigo, in a flat and pleasant terrain. The landscape is agricultural, with extensive fields of irrigated cultivation. It's a comfortable day that allows for a relaxed walk. The route passes through small villages with charm. The destination is Alija del Infantado, a Leonesan village with an imposing ruined castle that dominates the landscape, offering a final stage of great beauty and with a deep historical flavor.
Leaving behind the important town of Benavente, the road enters the fertile valley of the River Órbigo. The stage is flat and comfortable, ideal for a peaceful walk. The landscape is dominated by fields of maize and other irrigated crops, a green contrast with the dry plains of previous days. The road runs on dirt tracks and quiet local roads, passing through several small villages. Arrival in Alija del Infantado is the highlight of the day. This Leonesese town is dominated by the impressive ruins of its castle, which was an important fortress during the Middle Ages. Walking through its streets is to discover a rich heritage, with its San Esteban church and Roman bridge. It's the end of the stage with great historical charm and a very welcoming atmosphere.
