Stage Description
Stage of the Camino del Ebro through the Rioja Baja. The 22 km link Calahorra with Alcanadre along the river bank and fields of the valley. Alcanadre is a small Rioja town with a wine-producing tradition within the Rioja D.O.Ca. Rioja and a rural heritage linked to the old route of the N-232.
The Camino Primitivo gets underway with force. This first stage is a declaration of intentions, a challenge that immerses the pilgrim in the essence of rural and mountainous Asturias. Leaving behind monumental Oviedo, the path ascends rigorously to the Escamplero summit. The rest of the day is a continuous up and down through valleys and hills. It's an stage that requires good physical condition but rewards with its beautiful landscapes. Arrival in the small village of San Juan de Villapañada offers a peaceful break before arriving at Grado.
