The route runs through a spectacular landscape, with views of the massifs of the Picos de Europa. After passing over the collade, a long descent leads the hiker into Liébana valley. The stage that connects the village of Cicera to the town of Potes is a mountain day that serves as an introduction to the heart of the Picos de Europa. The profile is demanding, with a significant climb at the start.

The trail leaves Cicera and begins the ascent to Collado de Arceón, through beech and oak forests. As altitude is gained, views open up, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

Once the collado has been reached, a long and in some sections pronounced descent towards Liébana valley begins. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, with the Picos de Europa massifs dominating the horizon.

Arrival at Potes is a moment of celebration. This town is the capital and service center of the Liébana region. Its old town, with its cobblestone streets, blazoned houses, and medieval bridges, is charming. The Torre del Infantado is the most emblematic building. Potes is famous for its cuisine, especially for lebaniego stew and orujo.
