Stage Description

Short stage of about 17 km in the heart of the region of the Cider. The route is undulating between meadows and pomaradas (apple orchards), crossing villages with centuries-old granaries. Villaviciosa, known as the 'apple capital of Spain', is the most important natural cider producing center in the country. The stage can also be combined with a detour to the pre-Romanesque church of San Salvador de Valdediós (9th century, BIC).
This stage continues into the interior of Asturias, on undulating terrain. The landscape is a mosaic of meadows, forests and orchards, the essence of "The Sidra Region". The main delight of the journey is the possibility of deviating to visit the Monastery of Valdediós, a jewel of pre-Romanesque Asturian architecture. Arrival in Villaviciosa, the capital of cider, a charming old town with a great atmosphere, marks the end of an epoch of great beauty and flavor.
