Stage Description
This is a long and demanding alpine stage that traverses beautiful landscapes. The route passes through the historic Haggenegg Pass before descending to Brunnen, by the shores of the Four Cantons Lake. It's an Alpine high-mountain stage with considerable incline and spectacular views of the lake and mountains. Arrival in Brunnen, considered the birthplace of the Swiss Confederation, is a loaded final stage rich in history and natural beauty. A stage for experienced hikers.
The Einsiedeln to Brunnen stage is a long and demanding 24.4 km journey that crosses the Alps. The trail starts at Einsiedeln (900 m) and follows a high mountain profile, with continuous ascent that exceeds 1,400 meters of altitude at the Haggenegg Pass. The route traverses a spectacular landscape, with dense forests, deep valleys, and panoramic views that fade into the horizon. It is a very solitary journey, which requires excellent physical preparation and good planning. The wild beauty of the surroundings is the great reward for the effort. After topping the pass, it begins a long descent to Brunnen (435 m), at the shores of the Four Cantons Lake.
