Stage Description

This stage departs from the Palentina Mountains to enter the valley of the River Pisuerga. The profile is mainly descending and flat. The landscape becomes more open, with large areas of cultivation. It's a transitional day that brings the pilgrim closer to the Land of Fields. The arrival at Herrera de Pisuerga, a village with an important Roman past and a rich heritage, marks the end of the stage.
The stage between Aguilar de Campoo and Herrera de Pisuerga is a very favorable profile journey that leads the pilgrim from the mountain to the plain. The road descends gently, following the course of the River Pisuerga. The landscape changes, and the forests give way to fields of cereal. Arrival at Herrera de Pisuerga marks the end of the stage. Ancient Roman Pisoraca, it was an important legionary camp. Today, it preserves an interesting heritage, such as the church of Santa Ana and the Plaza Mayor. Additionally, Herrera is famous for its Festival of the River Crab, a gastronomic celebration of great tradition. The locality offers all necessary services to the pilgrim and a welcoming atmosphere. It is an ideal end of stage to enjoy history and nature by the banks of Pisuerga.
