Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

This long stage enters into a landscape of meadows and pastures of great beauty. The journey is marked by the passage of the impressive Alcántara Dam, which crosses through a modern dam. The profile is undulating and very solitary, demanding self-sufficiency. Arrival at Cañaveral, a town with all services, is a well-deserved rest after an immersion in extremeña nature.
The stage that starts in Casar de Cáceres is a long journey that immerses the pilgrim into the vastness of Extremadura's dehesa. The route runs across a terrain of gentle undulations, through an oak and almond landscape, and through farm estates. The most important milestone on the day is crossing the Alcántara Dam, one of Europe's largest. The pilgrim crosses this massive body of fresh water by modern dam, an impressive experience. The route is very solitary, with hardly any intermediate services, so it is essential to bring enough water and food. Arrival in Cañaveral, a town with great Jacobean tradition and all the necessary services, marks the end of the stage. It's a perfect place to rest and recover from the effort of such a long and demanding day.
