Stage Description
A stage of the Hapsburg Way through the Valdegovía area of Alava. The 18 km run through the valley of the river Omecillo with a landscape of oak groves, beech forests and medium mountain meadows. Boveda is a small town in Alava with a livestock tradition and typical rural architecture of northern Alava. Transition stage towards the Merindades burgalesas.
The stage between Quintanar de la Orden and La Villa de Don Fadrique is a short and completely flat journey. The road runs along dirt tracks that traverse the vast plain of La Mancha. The landscape is of austere beauty, with infinite horizons. It's an stage for meditation and to feel the power of the plateau. Arrival at La Villa de Don Fadrique marks the end of the stage. This town, of great historical importance, was founded by Infante Don Fadrique, Master of the Order of Santiago. His church of Our Lady of the Assumption, with its imposing tower, is the main monument. It's a peaceful and authentic final stage.
