Stage Description

This is one of the longest stages of the Via Turonensis, a true marathon through Poitou countryside. The route is flat but very demanding due to its distance. Arrival in Poitiers, "the City of One Hundred Campaniles", with its impressive Romanesque patrimony, is monumental reward. Its baptistery, cathedral and Notre-Dame-la-Grande church are jewels of medieval art. It's a stage of overcoming, that strengthens the body and spirit.
The Châtellerault to Poitiers stage is one of the longest on the Turonian Way, a 40-kilometer marathon that crosses the Poitou countryside. The route begins in Châtellerault (60 m) and follows an undulating profile with a gentle ascent towards Poitiers (120 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with fields of cultivation and forests. It is an demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the monumentality of its destination. Arrival in Poitiers, "The City of One Hundred Campaniles", is a moment of great emotion. The city, with its impressive Romanesque heritage, is an architectural gem. Its heritage and lively atmosphere make it one of the most important stops on the route. It is a demanding stage that is rewarded with a monumental finale.
