Stage Description
This stage continues across the Plain of Tierra de Campos, on completely flat terrain. It is a transitional day that runs through an agricultural landscape with extensive areas. The route, comfortable and without difficulties, allows for constant walking and meditation. The destination is Osorno la Mayor, an important town and hub of communication, which offers the pilgrim all necessary services for a good rest. It is a representative stage of the vastness of the Castilian tableland.
The route that connects Frómista with Osorno the Greater is an immersion in the Castilian plain. The profile is completely flat, and the road advances along earth tracks that traverse a landscape of cereal fields that disappear into the horizon. It's a stage to enjoy the feeling of vastness and austere beauty of the Land of Fields. The route passes through small towns such as Santillana de Campos. Arrival at Osorno the Greater marks the end of the day. This village, located in an important crossroads of highways, is a fundamental service center in the comarca. Although its monumental heritage is not as notable as that of other stops, its functionality and wide range of accommodations and restaurants make it a very convenient final stage for pilgrims. It's an ideal place to replenish strength and prepare for the next stages.
