It's an enjoyable start to the journey, allowing the pilgrim to acclimate to the pace of the road and enjoy a beautiful landscape, a prelude to the mountains of Upper Savoy.
The first stage of the Via Gebennensis is a 22km journey that starts in Geneva (375m) and gently ascends to the Col du Mont-Sion (785m). The route leaves the city behind and enters Swiss countryside, with an increasingly undulating profile. The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with views of Lake Lemann and the Alps. It is a pleasant walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings. Arrival at Col du Mont-Sion, on the border with France, is symbolic.
