Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Wild stage of the Camino dos Faros along the loneliest Atlantic coast of Galicia. The 23 km border beaches like Soesto and Traba (with dunes and lagoon), vertiginous cliffs and the mythical remains of the shipwreck of the Serpent (in front of Cape Trece), where a maritime cemetery stands in honor of the fallen sailors. Arou is a small fishing village with rural charm.
The stage from Santarém to Golegã is a 31-kilometer long journey that continues along the Tajo's leza. The path starts in Santarém (80 m) and follows a mainly descending profile, with some undulations, until the locality of Golegã (20 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with Portuguese countryside as the main protagonist. It is an demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the tranquility of its surroundings. Arrival in Golegã, the capital of Lusitanian horses, is a final stage with a special charm. This stage combines a gentle exercise with a rich historical experience, a perfect balance on the Portuguese Way.
