Stage Description
The first stage of the Portuguese Way from Lisbon is an urban and peri-urban route that follows the course of the Tagus River. It's a flat and pleasant journey, allowing for a peaceful departure from Portugal's capital. The path passes through the Park of Nations, with its modern architecture. Arrival in Vila Franca de Xira, a small town on the banks of the Tagus, is a serene end to the stage. It's a journey to bid farewell to monumental Lisbon and begin tuning into the pilgrim's rhythm.
