Stage Description
The first stage of the Portuguese Way from Lisbon is an urban and peri-urban route that follows the course of the Tagus River. It's a flat and pleasant journey, allowing for a peaceful departure from Portugal's capital. The path goes through the Park of Nations with its modern architecture. Arrival in Alhandra, a small town on the banks of the Tajo, is a serene end to the stage. It's a journey to say goodbye to monumental Lisbon and start tuning into the pilgrim's rhythm.
The first stage of the Portuguese Way from Lisbon is a 25km journey that follows the course of the Tagus River. The path starts in Lisbon (10m) and follows a mainly flat profile with a gentle ascent towards Alhandra (10m). The route passes through the Park of Nations, with its modern architecture. It's an enjoyable walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings. The arrival at Alhandra, a small town on the banks of the Tagus, is a serene final stage.
