Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage continues through the Sierra de Málaga, on broken profile terrain. The day is marked by spectacular views of the Torcal de Antequera, a unique karst landscape in Europe. The route passes through a rural environment of great beauty, with olive groves and almond trees. Arrival at Villanueva de la Concepción, a white village at the feet of the Torcal, offers an end to the stage in a privileged natural setting.
The stage between Almogía and Villanueva de la Concepción is a half-mountain day that ventures into the heart of the Málaga Mountains. The profile is a continuous up and down, with considerable accumulated gradient. The landscape is of great beauty, with olive groves, almond trees, and low hills. The main protagonist of the stage is the Torcal de Antequera, whose rocky formations are visible for most of the route. Arrival in Villanueva de la Concepción, a white village of recent foundation, marks the end of the stage. Its location at the foot of the Torcal makes it an ideal base to visit this natural area, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a perfect final stage for nature lovers and geology enthusiasts. The village offers all necessary services for pilgrims.
