Stage Description
This stage ends at the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de Vallivana, an important religious center in the Maestrazgo region of Castellón. The 17 km run along paths and forest tracks between kermes oak groves, overlooking the high Maestrazgo. The sanctuary, linked to the patron saint of Morella, is a unique architectural ensemble of the sixteenth century with accommodation for pilgrims and pilgrims.
The stage between Almogía and Villanueva de la Concepción is a half-mountain day that ventures into the heart of the Málaga Mountains. The profile is a continuous up and down, with considerable accumulated gradient. The landscape is of great beauty, with olive groves, almond trees, and low hills. The main protagonist of the stage is the Torcal de Antequera, whose rocky formations are visible for most of the route. Arrival in Villanueva de la Concepción, a white village of recent foundation, marks the end of the stage. Its location at the foot of the Torcal makes it an ideal base to visit this natural area, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a perfect final stage for nature lovers and geology enthusiasts. The village offers all necessary services for pilgrims.
