Stage Description

This long stage enters the interior of the province of Valencia. The profile is a gentle but continuous ascent, through a landscape of orange trees and fields of cultivation. It's an demanding day due to the distance. The destination is the monumental city of Xàtiva, one of the most important in the Valencian Community. Dominated by its imposing castle, which was the birthplace of the Pope Borja, Xàtiva offers exceptional historical and artistic heritage.
The stage that connects Silla with Xàtiva is a long journey through the interior of the province of Valencia. The profile is a gentle but constant ascent. The landscape remains dominated by orange groves. It passes through localities such as Algemesí, declared a World Heritage Site for its festivals of the Mare de Déu de la Salut. Arrival in Xàtiva is the day's grand prize. This city, of immense historical importance, is dominated by its spectacular castle, with its walls and panoramic views. Xàtiva was the birthplace of the Borja family, which gave two popes to Christianity. Its old town is a treasure trove of churches, palaces, and fountains. It's an obligatory stop on the Camino del Sureste.
