Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
The first stage of the Southeastern Way takes the pilgrim out of the great city of Valencia. The route is entirely flat and runs through the fertile Valencian huerta, a landscape of orange groves and rice fields. It's a transition day that allows you to get away from urban bustle. The route passes through towns like Benetússer. Arrival at Silla, an important village on the edge of the Natural Park of the Albufera, marks the end of this first section.
The South East Route starts in the monumental city of Valencia. This first stage is a long urban and peri-urban journey that crosses the famous Valencian orchard. The profile is completely flat. The landscape is dominated by orange groves, and as you progress, by rice fields of the Natural Park of Albufera. The route passes through several municipalities in the metropolitan area, such as Alfafar and Benetússer. Arrival at Silla, an important town with a great history, marks the end of the stage. Its Moorish tower is a relic of its past. It's a functional stop that offers all services to the pilgrim.
