Stage Description

This is one of the longest and most symbolic stages of the Via Turonensis. The journey is a long pilgrimage through the Beauce plain, "France's granary". It is a demanding and persevering journey with the silhouette of Chartres Cathedral as a guiding light on the horizon. Arrival in Chartres, with its Gothic cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most beautiful, is an unparalleled reward. This stage unites physical challenge with one of Europe's spiritual and artistic summits.
The Rambouillet to Chartres stage is one of the longest and most symbolic stages of the Via Turonensis, a 45 km marathon that traverses the Beauce plain. The route starts in Rambouillet (160 m) and follows a mostly flat profile with a gentle descent towards Chartres (140 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape with endless fields of cultivation. It is an demanding walk due to its length and lack of services, requiring good physical and mental preparation. Arrival at Chartres is a moment of great excitement. The city, with its impressive Gothic cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an architectural gem. Its heritage and lively atmosphere make it one of the most important stops on the route. It's a stage of great effort that is rewarded with a monumental finale.
