Stage Description
This stage continues the ascent through the Tuscan Apennines, on a mountainous route before the final stretch to La Verna. The landscape is forest and mountainous, a precursor to the sanctity of the sanctuary. It's a day to enjoy nature and the tranquility of the path. Arrival at Pieve Santo Stefano, known as "The City of the Daily", is an end of stage with an interesting cultural component. It's a day that combines physical effort with the reward of a unique heritage.
The stage from Pian della Capanna to Pieve Santo Stefano is a 16.4 km journey that continues the ascent through the Tuscan Apennines. The trail starts at Pian della Capanna (750 m) and follows a mostly descending profile, with some undulations, until the town of Pieve Santo Stefano (431 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with oak and beech forests, and offers panoramic views of the valley. It is a peaceful and easy walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and arrive in time to explore the destination town. Pieve Santo Stefano, known as "City of the Newspaper", hosts the National Archive of the Newspaper, a unique collection of autobiographical writings.
