Stage Description
First stage of the Camino del Mar (coastal variant of the North that runs along the coast of Lugo). It leaves from Ribadeo, port town in the Eo estuary (natural border between Galicia and Asturias), and advances parallel to the Cantabrian Sea along the coast of A Mariña Lucense. The 19 km route runs along spectacular beaches such as As Catedrais, a natural monument with its rock arches carved by the sea. San Cosme de Barreiros is a small rural town with seafaring charm. Smooth profile and Atlantic landscape of cliffs and dunes.
The Rubiães to Tui stage is a 19km journey that says goodbye to Portugal and enters Spain. The route starts in Rubiães (100m) and follows a largely descending profile, with some undulations, until the city of Tui (20m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with forests and fields of cultivation. It's a peaceful and easy walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and arrive on time to explore the destination city. The arrival at Valença do Minho, with its impressive fortress, and crossing the international bridge over the Miño to Tui are moments of great emotion. This stage combines gentle exercise with rich historical experience, a perfect balance in the Portuguese Way.
