It's a journey to enjoy the anticipation of arrival at one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities.
The Heitenried to Freiburg stage is a 15.2 km journey with a predominantly descending profile, serving as an excellent approximation of one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. The route starts at Heitenried (770 m) and descends gently through the Fribourg countryside. The route follows paths and trails that offer panoramic views of the landscape. Emotions grow in the final stretch, when the road descends into the deep Sarine gorge and reveals the spectacular silhouette of Freiburg (581 m). Crossing one of its historic bridges to enter the city is unforgettable. Freiburg is a medieval gem, with an old town that transports the traveler back in time. Its St. Nicholas Cathedral, with its impressive stained glass windows and tower, dominates the city.
