This stage continues through the Bairrada region, on a terrain of gentle undulations. The route crosses a landscape of vineyards, forests and small towns. It's a medium difficulty day that combines asphalt sections with dirt trails. The destination is Águeda, a city by the river of the same name, famous internationally for its "Umbrella Sky Project", a colorful installation of umbrellas that decorates its streets in summer. This stage ends with a note of color and creativity, offering a modern contrast on the historic route.
The stage connecting Sernadelo to Águeda is an enjoyable journey that runs through the heart of Bairrada region. The profile is undulating, with gentle hills breaking up the monotony of the plain, in a landscape dominated by vineyards and forests. The path passes through Avelãs de Caminho, a locality with a beautiful church and a curious detached bell tower. The route follows part of an ancient Roman road, the Via XVI, adding a historical component to the walk. It's a journey to enjoy the beauty of rural Portugal, with its villages and changing landscapes. Arrival in Águeda is a vibrant and colorful surprise. This city has become famous worldwide for its urban art festival "AgitÁgueda", which every summer decorates the streets of the center with millions of colored umbrellas suspended in the air, the "Umbrella Sky Project". Walking under this umbrella sky is an unique experience and one of the most iconic photos of the Portuguese Way. The city also offers all services and a very lively atmosphere.
