Arrival at St. Francis Basilica, the heart of pilgrimage and World Heritage site, is an unforgettable moment. It marks the end of the Via del Sud, a journey of great emotional and spiritual weight that culminates in one of Christianity's most sacred places.
The Spello to Assisi stage is a short but intense emotional journey, 12.8 kilometers long. The route starts at Spello (280 m) and follows an ascending profile with continuous ascent to Assisi (424 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with the famous olive hills of the Spoleto valley. It's a demanding walk that requires good physical preparation. Arrival in Assisi is a moment of great emotion. The city, birthplace of St. Francis and St. Clare, is at the heart of the Via di San Francesco. Its Basilica of St. Francis, UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most sacred places in Christianity. Its heritage and devotional atmosphere make it a very special stop. It's an stage that combines great physical challenge with total immersion into history and spirituality.
