Stage Description
Leaving the capital, this stage enters the Campo de Calatrava region. The profile is flat and the landscape is dominated by fields of cultivation and inactive volcanoes that dot the plain. It's a transition day, which brings the pilgrim back to the tranquility of the Manchegan countryside. Arrival in Malagón, a village with a rich heritage and great history, offers an interesting culturally final stage.
This stage enters the Gascony region, a land of hills and fields of cultivation. The route is demanding, with an undulating profile and continuous ups and downs. Arrival in Auch, Gascony's capital, with its imposing Cathedral of Saint Mary and Monumental Staircase, marks the end of a culturally rich stage. It is a stage that requires good physical preparation but rewards with breathtaking scenery.
